Blunkett flops in Mastermind quiz
BBC NEWS | Entertainment | TV and Radio | Blunkett flops in Mastermind quiz:
"The 56-year-old MP put his failure down to the programme's intimidating atmosphere. "
Not to being thick then? Home secretary. Former education secretary. Pretty much in charge of all domestic affairs. Beaten by a BBC political correspondent, an Eastenders actor and a TV chef.
And we let him make massive decisions regarding the lives of ourselves and others? Maybe Anthony Worrall-Thompson would be a better bet. I'm sure Jeremy Bowen would.

I've just finished reading......
Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser, and i am *never* eating a burger or hotdog ever again.
He doesn't try to make the reader a vegetarian or vegan or anything, indeed he eats meat with as much relish as anyone (no pun intended) but he just makes people ask what are really quite obvios questions regarding the globalization of markets and the damage it does to ordinary people around the world, not to mention the actual quality of the meat in the food products themselves.
it's very interesting if a little dry, and all his statements are backed up with copious notes. As he himself states in the afterword "many many people have criticized the book, yet no-one has actually refuted any of the specific claims mad within".
Read it. Your local library should have it in stock or you can reserve it. I just happened to see it in my local library last week and new people had been talking about it and decided to see what all the fuss was about. I'm very glad I did.
Blunkett rebuts terror criticism
BBC NEWS | UK | Blunkett rebuts terror criticism:
"Mr Blunkett told BBC Radio 4's The World This Weekend that he had a duty to protect people from terrorists."
Agreed. Except of course no-one except Mr Blunkett knows if they *are* terrorists as no charges have been brought against them. They do not know why they are being held and their lawyers have not been told of the charges.
